Who and Why Pray the Rosary on cd

Who

People of ALL Races … and of many faith practices are being drawn to the recitation of this age old series of prayers. For some a way of nurturing an already active spiritual life and others of us, a means of getting back in touch with a part of ourselves that has been overlooked for some time and are interested in allowing that facet of our lives to be rekindled.

Regardless of Your reason, it is our goal to supply these CDs (at an affordable price) as a TOOL to aid in the "recitation" of THE ROSARY... But the "Prayer" is up to YOU.

Where

Anywhere you can make a CD player play. by use of this tool, but a little practice, the rosary can be "recited" vocally or mentally most anywhere and at most anytime.

Why

Offered within this site You will find, thoughts and explanations of prayer and of THIS prayer, with some Bible references using the New International Version of the Bible, as well as a variety of dictionary and encyclopedia explanations of individual words, but you should use the translation of the Bible that you prefer. (Most initial thoughts are based the Douay Rheims translation, with its Thees and Thous, but it was reasoned that, more people reading this would have something closer to the NIV.  These things have helped me to gain an appreciation for this wonderful meditation and series of prayers known as "THE ROSARY" and pray that it makes sense to you too.)

WHAT IS PRAYER … (Well... this is what my life has taught me)

1).        Praying or the grace of prayer is given or inspired by God... in an attempt by God to allow His Own Creation the opportunity to get to know Him.

2).       Prayer (all prayer) is essentially a conversation with God. And as in any conversation we should think before and during the time we speak and we should think (Meditate or Contemplate) while we listen.

a).       Another means of Conversing is by taking Action.... ie: Body Language says a lot and our Actions Speak louder then words.

3).        Prayer does and should take on many forms which are all related, in that, the end result should be a closer relationship with God and thereby a continually improving  relationship with our fellowman.

4).        That two or more "types" of prayer may be taking place at the same time within the same situation is not unusual, and even desirable .

SOME TYPES OF PRAYER

A).    Traditional Prayer Such as The Our Father (see below) and many hundreds of formulas (recorded throughout time) not mentioned here but yet are  worthy of thought, contemplation, and recitation.

a1).    At the recitation of the words "forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us" the human mind should have the tendency to elapse into a remembrance of some sin or fault of their own and or some sin or fault of another person or group and enter into a charismatic or meditative plea for the graces needed to forgive and or be forgiven. (At the same time other words may continue to be made audible) This thought process (or multi-tasking) is part of the design "built into" most humans and possibly ordained by Its Designer in the attempt of drawing each (by these Inklings) to a closer relationship with The Holy Spirit, which should lead into other forms of Charisma .

B).    Charismatic or "non traditional" Prayer (Prompted by the Holy Spirit) (Romans 8:26) and often Intercessory...asking God for something, for ourselves or others, and honoring or praising or thanking God for blessings bestowed. As well as those "revelations" given to mankind known as "Prophecies" are generally conceived  within this type of prayer.

b1).   This type of prayer may also take on inaudible and near unexplainable depths of contemplation and meditation brought about by a Word - Sound - or an Inkling, and the gift of Discernment is needed for any human to judge correctly. One would think if the series of words spoken (or actions taken) does "bear fruit" ...it would be reenacted again and again and then give it a couple hundred years and what do you have, a Tradition.

C).     Intercessory Prayer. This old man likes to think of it as: Helping Other People Prayer by getting God to do the Work. (James 5:16) and  (1 Kings 13:6)  and (1 Samuel 7:5) and (Romans 8:26)

c1).    In many ways we all seem to utilize this type of prayer. We often ask someone else to intercede on our behalf ("Pastor will You pray for me?") or even announce that we ourselves will intercede ("I will keep You in my prayers") or even if some one sneezes, cultural custom (or an inkling of the Holy Spirit) prompts many of us to bestow upon the sneezer a quick little "May God Bless You" or maybe we use our hands instead of or in conjunction with our mouths .. and (for example) help someone fix a flat tire…. (If done with Gods Love this would seem to be the best kind of Prayer) (additional private thoughts)

D).    Meditation on and or Recitation of Scripture Prayer. One of the other, most efficient means of prayer, is that of meditation by contemplation of and recitation of Scripture …After all, if we do truly believe (that The Bible is the Inspired Word of God) why wouldn’t it be a very efficient means of prayer to read it – think about it – recite and talk with others about. (Acts 17:2)  and (Matthew 18:20)

The following may all seem a little confusing, (because of the Ookee way this old man explains stuff) or if you are not used to the praying of the Rosary, but is made easy, even second nature, by use of the CD as a tool.

WHAT IS THE ROSARY?

All of the above mentioned types of prayer are utilized within and are the basis of what has become known as THE ROSARY, making it: A culmination of Traditional and Charismatic Prayer as well as RECITATION of SCRIPTURE to be undertaken in Humility with Contemplation and Meditation.

1).    The ROSARY is traditionally prayed One (of the 4) Mysteries per day, although, for many people, more then one mystery per day is Normal.

2).    The time invested is about 15 minutes per mystery, or approx. 1% of our days total time. (24hrs x 60 min=1440 min ÷ 15 min = 1. 04167%)

3).    Each Thought and Prayer is to be offered as an act of Worshiping GOD in HUMILITY and offering gratitude for His involvements within the life’s of Mary Mother of Jesus–Joseph–ourselves -and a multitude of others, to be honored by recalling their participation with His Divine Will. .To be prayed with an overall intention such as knowledge or healing or interceding for another's welfare or praise for blessing bestowed. BUT not JUST BABBLING WORDS IN REPETITION WHICH OUR LORD ( via Mathew ) STERNLY WARNS AGAINST.

3a).    ALTHOUGH ON that SUBJECT of "babbling", It needs to be stated that, some days trying to focusis using all our strength, (and if no lies are being told to ones self) does equate into all we can do. and that is what God desires. For these are the days when we are humbled (or one of the ways to consider "poor in Spirit") and need be driven by faith alone. This is when our Triune God is allowed to make or re-make us strongest when we are weakest. (please, give some deep thought to this profound explanation of The paradox of humility by Easton)

opening prayers

1).     (1 time)    Praying the "Sign of the Cross" and (1 time)   Pray the "Sign of the Cross" at the end of your completed rosary.

2).     (1 time)    Praying the "Apostles Creed" (Stating beliefs in the Triune Godhead) ***( Questioning this Prayer )***

3).     (1 time)    Praying the "Our father" (To set the mental standard that all of these Prayers are directed to the Triune God.

4).     (3 times)   Praying the "Hail Mary" (Generally with the intercessory intention for the grace of an increase of the virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity)

5).     (1 time)    Praying the "Glory be" (Setting a mental standard for praise and thanksgiving)

and then on to: meditating on a mystery

1).    Meditations are to be focused on one of Four (4) overall "Mysteries" of the life's of Jesus and his chosen (real-time earthly family) (Joyful - Sorrowful - Glorious or Luminous)

2).    These Mysteries are subdivided into Five (5) "Decades". Each of the decades contemplating a different event in the life of Jesus, in His Triune Deity as well as His Manhood.

3).    To which we should contemplate the "Joys" "Sorrows" "Glorifications" or "Illuminating lessons" in the biblical records that pertain to each of the decades within each overall mystery. We envision and relate these actions and emotions, of their  life's, to our own personal life's. and through these meditations we attempt to gain similar virtues and graces that they showed (and possess) while dealing with these circumstances of  life, both earthly and eternal. This CD has a short commentary (a few seconds) prior to each Decade as a "jump starter" to your own meditation.

the decades

SUMMARY OF the prayers WITHIN EACH "DECADE"

TRADITIONALLY Each Decade consists of 12 individual prayers, AS FOLLOWS:

1).       (1 time)       Praying the "Our Father" ( Among other reasons, to re-set the mental standard that all of these prayers are to be directed to the Triune God,  especially when (verbally or mentally ) asking Mary or someone else to intercede.

2).     (10 times)    Praying the "Hail Mary" ( Leading to continuing depths, of meditation and decrements, depending on the mystery and decade being contemplated and the charisma of the worshiper involved ). AND make no mistake She has been given the Power from on High to help us. (this has been proven through Faith in Scripture and beyond faith in the observance of proofs in earthly life by millions of humans throughout time). Just as You and I use our gifts given to us, by the same God to help others, She has no other goal than to draw each member of Her earthly family to Her Son that He may introduce us to His Father.

3).     (1 time)        Praying the "Glory Be" ( Among other reasons, in thanksgiving , for the insight that was just received during that decade).

4).     (1 time)        Praying the "Fatima Prayer" making 13 prayers in total per decade. (see explanation of this prayers involvement below)

At the finish of each rosary (this is after the fifth decade and the "Sign of the Cross") we should spend a few minutes in other forms of contemplative charismatic prayer or thought .... quietly listening ....to any "inklings" the Holy Spirit may be giving at that time. Making a sincere effort to expand upon spiritual growth .... and then go about our daily duties refocusing our efforts of bringing God into this world with our whole hearts-minds-and all of our strength. I believe it was the great (St. Patrick) that once said .... "we must preach the gospel unceasingly, using words if necessary"

.

THE INDIVIDUAL PRAYERS involved in THE ROSARY

1).    The Sign of The Cross  (Scriptural, (Matthew 28:19) as well as Charismatic prayer from Christian cultural tradition)

a).     recited as follows: "In the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit".  amen.

b). If this old man were a big shot in the Government  …and while entering a meeting with other big shots serving in the Armed Forces, it may well be announced "The representative has arrived in the name of The White House ... The Pentagon … and in the name of the Supreme Court" or whatever.. and rest assured... this old man, would have the attention of the other "big shots" there …

c). Well Ladies and Gentlemen …it is the same with us Christian soldiers.... except ...with "the Sign of the Cross" (with or without the hand motion vertically and horizontally) we are not out to get the attention of others. (although there is a solidarity when a group of Christians pray this together)  Instead we are alerting ourselves to the remembrance that we are NOT just …praying – working – living in our own names … but we desire to conform ourselves to allow the Will of GOD to guide our lives … In -thought – word – and deed.

2).    The Apostles Creed: (Prayer of old from before the "Churches" started arguing )

a).     recited as follows: "I believe in God, the Father Almighty the Creator of heaven and earth, / and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. and on The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence  He shall come to judge the living and the dead. / I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting." Amen.

b).     Parts of the Apostles Creed itself: This Creed Consists of 12 articles (or Statements) in Three sections

b1).    The First section. Stating a belief in God The Father as Supreme Being over all.

b2).    The Second section: Stating belief in God The Son …His Incarnation ( taking on Human form). Which once He did that will never change, His Death - Resurrection - Ascension - and forthcoming return in Glory.

b3).    The Third section: Stating belief in God The Holy Spirit and some of the highlights of His interaction with mankind.

c).    My suggestion here is that each person pray those Statements that best fit the individuals faith belief and not hammer on things that may disrupt the Spirit of God that is in you. (Romans 16:17-18) i.e.: If you are not "Roman Catholic" bare in mind that the Creed recited at many Protestant Worship Services.. It is prayed "We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy "catholic" Church"... with "catholic" Meaning "Universal" and all in all this is what God beckons us to… UNITY... Let the big shots figure out all the rest of that stuff… and as for the rest of us… let us just pray they do.

3).   The Our Father: (Recitation of Scripture (Matthew 6:9-15) and (Luke 11: 2-4) and a Traditional prayer)

a).    recited as follows: "our father whom art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil." amen.

b).      Given to humanity by God the Son. Traditionally known as "the Perfect Prayer", among other reasons, because it was given by God Himself. (Which seems to say it all) Other then to state: If any human were allowed 200 earthly years to ponder on these 55 words, they would at no time comprehend it all and only find a desire to be allowed another 200.)

4).    The Hail Mary: (Recitation of Scripture (Luke 1:28) and (Luke 1:41-42) and a traditional Intercessory prayer in the form of a Charismatic plea for intercession by the Mother of "The Perfect Son")

a).        recited as follows: "hail Mary, full of grace, the lord is with thee. blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. Jesus. holy Mary, mother of god, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of death." amen.

b).     Very possibly the most misunderstood prayer of all recorded history. Especially in recent history (partially) for the reason mentioned below. As well as in referring to The Blessed Virgin Mary as " Mother of God " and asking Her to intercede. ("Pray for us Sinners now and at the hour of our death")

**For thought on Mary as Intercessor read  (Intercessory Prayer) and (John 2: 3-5) and (The Misnomer of worshiping Mary)

In this entire site this is the only place, it has been, felt necessary to take clarification to this extent.... as follows;

c).     If YOU FOLLOW THESE LINKS TO (Luke 1:28) and (Luke 1:41-42) (PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT THE New International Version "Wording" and "punctuation" differs substantially from the Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition. As well as differs from the widely accepted "Protestant" King James translation.

d).     Then try to realize that, the recitation of the Scripture Verses within this prayer, that were initially being quoted, are from the Douray-Rheims. Or from Versions Translated  Hundreds of Years prior to even that one. And still are today.  (The Douay-Rhiems  being one of the most recent ) By the way...You will have that with "traditions"  that stand the test of time. Such as "Direct Quotes" or recitations of the words of GODS Ambassadors.

e).      It is truly not meant to "bash" the New International Version, as it is widely considered a reliable source and although competent, exhibits a taste for Modernism. If "quoted" as "Gods only direct Word" this can have a tendency to be misused,  in an attempt to soften, water down or negate "Gods direct Word" in more ancient translations. (In the case of Scripture "Ancient" does not equate into Antiquated )

f).     furthermore: Attempting to soften, water down or negate Gods Direct Word  or, listening to those that do, is something that GODS DIRECT WORD strongly warns against.

g).     These warnings, in one form or another can be found in many verses throughout all transcriptions considered competent by legitimately ordained authorities throughout our Jewdio-Christian lineage.  Even to the point that, ( Within the Last Verses of the Last page of the Last Book of the New Testament ), it is the Third to the last thought Our Gracious God wishes to plant in our pointy little heads. Before HE, for one final time, (via that HOLY MEDIA), reminds us of this finite existence and (via the Apostle and Prophet John ) beckons His grace upon us.

To read an example of meditations that took place in one old mans mind eye during (1) Hail Mary go to these 2 links. (To be read in order)

1). The Speed of Prayer.

2). Example of (1) Hail Mary during the 1st Joyful Mystery.

5).    The Glory be: (a Recitation of Scripture (Matthew 28: 19) and (Philippians 4:19-21) as well as a traditional prayer and should be very Charismatic )

a).        recited as follows: "glory be to the father and to the son and to the holy spirit. as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. world without end." amen.

b).     To be a heartfelt statement of WORSHIP... (and during public recitation, possibly the most important, prayer in the series) Offered to the TRIUNE GOD for all that "has been done" "is being done" and "will be done" that the salvation of mankind may be complete .

6).     The "Fatima" Prayer: ( Charismatic prayer - working on becoming a Traditional prayer )

a).        recited as follows: "Oh My JESUS, forgive us our sins, Save us from the fires of Hell, and lead all Souls to Heaven especially those who have most need of Thy Mercy"

b).     This prayer was instituted at Fatima Portugal (1917-18) as a plea for the graces of conversion and thereby world peace. (This CD does include this prayer after each decade)

c).        The only difference in what has become known as "The Fatima Rosary" is the recitation of THIS PRAYER after each decade and of course the overall "intention" of offering that Rosary to THE LORD (as an intercession) for World Peace rather then some other intention... such as thankfulness- healing - praise for the gift of life - Worship for the gift of forgiveness - etc: (and it by NO means mandatory to offer your prayers for World Peace especially if you feel you have other more pressing issues and it can always be added as a secondary intention). Remember Our Lord invented multitasking.

WARNING Praying the Rosary can become very contagious and each person MUST REMEMBER that we are all at different levels of spiritual growth and should never feel guilty if some other responsibility (or trial) of life has caused one to bypass the praying of the rosary on any given day or week or month for that matter. Instead be extremely thankful for those moments we DO have the grace to communicate, with the Triune God, utilizing this formula of the rosary. Pay close attention and GOD will always grant you the Graces to Discern when you are being too scrupulous...

It is well known that, using our "scruples" against us is one the of the tricks of the enemy, causing a soul to feel emotions of despair-unworthiness-guilt-even jealousy and the likes and maybe even give up. (at least that is the goal of the enemy) This is true in many facets of our spiritual growth.  TO which we must each persevere in our own small way, that when tested we should eventually become like the Gold tested in Fire.
